Cadets at Box Hill this Sunday

It is not too often that the entire Officer Training College Community gather together at one Corps on one Sunday - but we have the privilege of hosting such an event this coming Sunday. Our 9:30am and 11:00am Worship Services will be led by the Cadets and I am sure we will have a great time as they share their ministry skills with us. Plan to come along and be a part of Worship.

For many of us it will be a chance to see our "own" cadet, Andrew Lee, as he commences his training for Officership. Andrew has just returned from 4 years serving with the Salvation Army in Pakistan - a very challenging assignment. Andrew is a soldier of Box Hill and will remain so until the conclusion of his Officer Training. It will be great for him to feel our support now he is back in Melbourne.

Also this Sunday our Kids and Youth activities are back on as normal, and for those who have been missing their coffee Cafe Salvo recommences its Sunday opening. Everything is back to normal!

At the moment I am reading the book "The Happiest Refugee" by Anh Do. Anh is a well known comedian but this tells the story the arrival of his family in Australia as refugees from Vietnam when he was a young child. Time and time again he makes the comment how his parents were simply amazed at the possibilities their family had in Australia and would look at each other and say "What a great country!"

As I read his story it reminds me of the terrible circumstances many flee in order to find new life in a place like Australia. May we be a country of hope and acceptance. May we as a church community be a place of hope and acceptance for people from a diversity of cultures and backgrounds. That is the calling that God places upon us as His people.

See you on Sunday.

Gregory
