Phil Laeger
Phil has been leading worship around the United States for the past 12 years. In his new role as Contemporary Worship Consultant / Songwriter, Phil hopes to engage with other worship leaders, bands and songwriters in the territory, and encourage and equip them to more effectively draw others into Jesus' presence.
Phil's accomplishments as a performing songwriter include placing in the 2001 John Lennon Songwriting Competition; recording two solo albums; and co-writing the theme song for the 2006 National Day of Prayer in America (with Aussie recording artist Rebecca St. James).
As a worship songwriter, Phil has written new arrangements of some of The Salvation Army's most beloved songs, including I'm In His Hands, Send the Fire!, Burning, Burning, and Over and Over, as well as composing I Surrender and Your Holy Love, which are used regularly in corporate worship inside and outside the Army.
Recently, Phil has been seeking to tie worship more closely into mission, both practically as well as in song. Phil and friends Marty Mikles and Lex Roberson formed the group transMission ("transforming worship into mission") to help bring about a more missional worship mindset in the States. His songs Be A Hero and Beggar's Hand (which headlines Micah Challenge Australia's Heart Life VOICE project) both deal with issues of poverty and advocacy for the voiceless.
Phil and his wife Sarah are the proud parents of two young boys, Samuel and Aiden.
